Desert Breeze Park
I was at a hot yoga class in Las Vegas while I was visiting my ex wife (that’s a story in itself). I had Ozzy with me and I wanted to take him for a walk after the class, So I punched into my gps the nearest park. It was very nice, very clean, and there were a bunch of people with their dogs. Upon leaving I noticed a bunch of flowers around a few trees, I investigated and noticed many trees with plaques, flowers, and messages for loved ones who had passed away. This park had to be surrounded by about 100+ memorial trees. Pretty cool that the city allows people to honor their loved ones. Many of the memorials were very old, decades even, I was pleasantly surprised to see that the park land maintenance staff kept them clean and preserved, no weeds, mess, kept up decorations, etc. I don’t usually see that in my travels, typically memorials get cleaned out, so to see it upkept is super cool.
Forgotten North Las Vegas Memorial
This memorial was by the shop near north las vegas near nellis airforce base. An industrial area with lots of junk, shops, many homeless, and unauthorized dumping and camping sites. I found this memorial while walking ozzy on a one way intersection, lots of near misses. This one was well tended for about three months, but got destroyed and was replaced by whoever was missing this individual. One of the many memorials I’ve seen get forgotten and neglected after time, another forgotten soul.
